Isle of Man Post Office is looking for a new partner to provide a parcel collection service in Castletown.

The move comes after Castletown post office, operated by and housed in the town’s Co-op store, gave notice it wants to end the service due to space restrictions.

Expressions of interest are being sought from businesses based in Castletown, who would be interested in offering parcel collection for customers who have not been in when the postman has called.

The aim is to begin this new service in September.

All other services provided by Castletown post office will be unaffected as will the collection of parcels elsewhere in the south of the island.

The deadline for responses is noon on July 18.

Meanwhile, the planned closure of St John’s post office has been postponed until the end of the year.

The branch was to close on August 7 after it was announced that sub postmaster Rob Knighton was stepping down.

But Mr Knighton has now agreed to run the counter service beyond that date, between 9am and 12 noon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until December 31.
