People living near Ronaldsway have been urged to stay indoors and close their windows as firefighters continue to tackle a major blaze near Isle of Man Airport.
Police issued the advice because of smoke coming from an ‘established fire’ in the area of Castletown and Malew Fire and Ambulance Station, opposite the airport.
The force said there was currently no direct fire risk to members of the public and no injuries had been reported.
However, it said: ‘Members of the public in the area are asked to stay indoors and where possible, close windows to avoid smoke inhalation.’
The A5 next to the airport has been temporarily closed while the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service deals with the incident.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and use the Castletown bypass.
