With epic songs and the promise of a spectacular light show, the island’s biggest tribute band celebrates a landmark anniversary this weekend.

Pigs On The Wing, the island’s own Pink Floyd tribute act, will host their great gig at the Villa Marina on Sunday, August 25, from 8pm.

This concert marks the band’s 25th year together, and the band, led by singer and guitarist Pete Williamson, guitarist James Craig, bassist Dick Raine, drummer Steve Leach and keyboardist Chris Glaister, and joined by backing singers , husband-and-wife team Juan and Jo Callister and saxophonist Sammie J, promise to create a stunning concert and light show fit for such an occasion.

Among the songs featured in the set will be the classic Pink Floyd tracks ’Comfortably Numb’, ’Wish You Were Here’, ’the Great Gig In The Sky’ and ’Learn To Fly’, and the group will also be joined by the children from Ballcottier School choir for a version of ’Another Brick In The Wall’.

They will also keep fans on their toes by performing a few new surprise tracks, along with songs taken from earlier sets that they haven’t played in many years.

Tickets for the concert are £15 each, available from the Welcome Centre and the Villa Gaiety box office, on 600555, and online from villagaiety.com

Support comes from the local funk rock group Last Drags, whose singer and guitarist, Theresa McNulty and Terry George, appeared at this year’s Glastonbury festival.
