The Cabinet Office has accepted all but four recommendations in the inspector’s report into the area plan for the east.

Following the publication of Michael Hurley’s report, the Cabinet Office has considered the recommendations made by the inspector and proposes to adopt the plan with a number of modifications.

Out of a total of 111 recommendations, all have been accepted by the Cabinet Office apart from four. One has been rejected and three have been amended.

A spokesman said: ’Representations and objections can be made as part of a consultation exercise which launched today and will close on 14 April. For details of the modifications and to make representations visit the online Consultation Hub at https://consult.gov.im/

’Cabinet Office will have regard to any representations before determining any further changes and adopting the area plan. All views will be considered and representations can be made whether or not comments were made during the earlier part of the process.’

It is anticipated that the adopted area plan will be considered by Tynwald later this year. Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas has previously indicated he wanted it before Tynwald during the summer.

As well as the consultation, residents will have the opportunity to contact their MHKs regarding their feelings about the plan with the general election little over 18 months away.

We will have more details on the updates to the area plan in next week’s Examiner, in shops Tuesday.
