Another pub is to be turned into a home, if plans get the go-ahead.

Plans have been submitted to transform the Liverpool Arms in Baldrine into a six-bedroom home.As we reported earlier this year, the owner Heron and Brearley decided not to continuing running the site and a condition of sale was that the new buyer should not run it as a pub.Brewery bosses say factors such as location, limited trade, and difficulty in recruiting staff made operating the pub ’no longer a viable option’.It was closed in October last year after a decline in business and a tough trading environment.H&B had considered hosting its Bella Pizza offer at the pub during the TT period, but say the kitchen was in too poor condition to provide the service.Property and projects manager Helen Simpson says the company have focused investments in public houses The Cat With No Tail in Governor’s Hill, the Archibald Knox in Onchan, and the Mines Tavern in Laxey, with no further interest in running the Liverpool Arms.Documents supporting the planning application also revealed the previous tenant left a trading debt of £14,000, and £3,000 in unpaid rent.

The Liverpool Arms was once known as the Halfway House.

Another former Halfway House, the Waggon and Horses near Crosby, was turned into a private residence some years ago.
