Investigations between the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and Isle of Man Constabulary are continuing into an alleged case of attempted sexual communication with a child.

The PSNI has confirmed that a man in his 30s was arrested in south Belfast on Friday, September 25, in connection with the investigation.

A spokesperson said: ‘Police, conducting an investigation into attempted sexual communication with a child, have arrested a man aged in his 30s.

‘He was arrested in the University Road area of south Belfast on Friday afternoon, September 25.

‘Following questioning, he was later released on police bail to allow for further enquiries into the investigation.

‘PSNI has been in contact with colleagues at the Isle of Man Constabulary as enquiries continue into this investigation.’

The Isle of Man Constabulary confirmed the following day, September 26, that it was investigating the circumstances surrounding the footage.

At the time, the force said the man ‘purports to have travelled to Belfast from the Isle of Man with an allegedly unlawful purpose’.

It also appealed for caution over attempts by members of the public to identify the man.

The Isle of Man Constabulary said: ‘While police appreciate the public’s willingness to assist, the footage is already in our possession and no further help with identification is required.

‘Thank you for your assistance.’

A video later appeared on Isle of Man Facebook groups showing the man preparing to travel back to the island from Liverpool.

The PSNI has confirmed it remains in contact with the Isle of Man Constabulary as part of the ongoing investigation.
