The public counter service provided by the Isle of Man Constabulary in Pulrose ended today. (Friday)
The office on Heather Crescent has been staffed by an administrative officer on weekdays from 8am to midday to deal with enquiries from the public.
But, following what has been described as an ’operational review of services’ it has been decided to close the public counter and transfer the member of staff to Police Headquarters.
Chief Inspector Darrill Pearson said: ‘Current demand does not support retaining a police counter service in Pulrose.
’For example, there have been only six occasions in the past 12 months of people walking into the building in Pulrose to report a crime.
’We believe it would be more effective for our member of staff to be based at Police Headquarters, which handles the biggest volume of public calls and walk-in enquiries.’
