The police are looking for a man who is believed to have been 'sleeping rough' in the island.

Officers have said he is usually sleeping around the Abbeylands area.

Police said: 'We want to check this male is OK given the poor weather conditions. He is not in any trouble at all.

'We have been told that he may have been given shelter over Christmas after being found sleeping in a shop door way on Prospect Terrace.

'The male is aged about 40-50 years with a beard.'
