Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford will take over the Home Affairs department on an interim basis.

Mr Ashford will step into the role following the death of Minister Bill Malarkey last week. He will continue in his health minister role.

The appointment, confirmed by the Cabinet Office, is only for a short term due to the legal requirement of a minister to oversee the department.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle also confirmed there will be a reshuffle in the coming weeks, probably after the Legislative Council selections are completed early on Thursday, March 12.
