Claire Christian and Paul Quine have been elected to serve as MHKs for Douglas South.
Mrs Christian stormed home (930) with more than half of the 1,789 votes cast.
The turnout was 37.82%,
The contest for the second available seat proved painfully close as Mr Quine (469) edged Michael Josem (Liberal Vannin) by just six votes (463).
It was the tight contest between Mr Quine and Mr Josem which saw a recount being called just after 10pm.
Just before 11.30pm, returning officer James Quinn announced that a result had been reached and Mr Quine had indeed won.
The new members will not have long to impress their constituents, with a general election due in just under 13 months time.
However with Tynwald due to return in October and the island facing up to how it responds to the impact of Covid-19, they will have plenty of chance to prove if the voters’ trust has been well placed.
