Graham Cregeen wants to keep his seat in the House of Keys in September’s general election.

The Minister for Home Affairs represents Arbory, Castletown and Malew. He has been an MHK since 2006.

In the announcement that he planned to stand again he said he had ’sought’ to improve pre-school provision around the island and helped to bring forward refurbishment plans for Castle Rushen High School.

He also lists being the lead member for British Irish Council Minority Languages, a summit which was hosted in the island, as one of his achievements.

Mr Cregeen mentions the work his department has done during the pandemic and says: ’While I have strived to do what has been needed to protect the island and its economy, this work will need to be continued over the coming years and I believe the experience I have gained during my time as a member of The House of Keys can contribute to ensuring a positive outcome.’

Three other candidates have announced their intention to stand for the seat. They are architectural and social theorist Ian-James Clanton, architect Steve Crowther and former journalist Tim Glover.

The constituency’s other sitting member, Jason Moorhouse, has not announced whether he’s standing.
