Tynwald’s public accounts committee will meet at 11am on Friday to consider education provision during the lockdown.

The chairman of the committee, Juan Watterson SHK, said: ’We want to ascertain preparedness and progress for full education of all of the island’s children.

’It has been a very challenging period, with much uncertainty. The initial response appears to have been extremely positive and the hub schools provided the support needed at that time. We look forward to discussing the move towards re-establishing a full educational provision within the constraints which still exist.’

The committee is appealing for written submissions from anyone else who wishes to comment.

Submissions should be sent by email to [email protected] by close of business today (Tuesday).

The committee comprises Mr Watterson, Lawrie Hooper MHK, Rob Callister MHK, Julie Edge MHK, Jane Poole Wilson MLC, and Chris Robertshaw MHK and will hear from the Minister for Education Sport and Culture, Alex Allinson MHK, and chief officer, Professor Ronald Barr.

The evidence will be able to be heard via the livestream on the Tynwald website.

The recording will also be available after the session under the Listen Again section of the website and a Hansard transcription will be published in due course.
