It’s probably the most important date in the political year.

The Budget is the occasion on which the Treasury Minister says how much we’ll pay in tax - and reveals what that money will be spent on.

Tynwald passed the Budget two weeks ago.

Alfred Cannan and politicial members of the Treasury hosted a question-and-answer session about the Budget at the Peel Centenary Centre on Wednesday night.

They invited anyone to go along to ask they whatever they liked.

It wasn’t exactly jam-packed inside, as our photos show, even though it had been publicised in advance.

Perhaps people simply weren’t that interested.

It’s worth noting that Isle of Man Newspapers’ link on our Facebook page to our main Budget story got only a third as much interest as a story about the lack of public toilets in Port Erin.

Or perhaps - because the Budget is an all-or-nothing measure announced and agreed on one day - people thought going was pointless since it was too late to change anything.
