The Cabinet Office is advertising for a new head of government communications.
Current head of corporate communications Liz Aelberry, who has held the post since 2017, is leaving to take up a new role with a local authority in Essex.
The vacancy is being advertised with a salary of £48,358-£56,312 a year.
Heading up the team of eight, the successful applicant will provide ’proactive and strategic leadership during a fascinating and challenging time for our island’, says the job advert.
It adds: ’Reputation management is a large part of this role, with emerging threats to how the island is perceived being swiftly dealt with.
’Due to the nature of our work being very visible, we can often be subject to criticism from the public, media outlets and political members. It’s important to turn negative or constructive feedback into a positive outcome.’
The press office is also advertising internally for a communications executive on a limited term contract to deal with climate change inquiries.
