A new law which would cut the number of votes needed to show no confidence in the appointment of a chief minister has passed its final reading in the Legislative Council.
The Council of Ministers (Amendment) Bill 2020 would mean a chief minister could be booted out of office if 13 MHKs - just over half - backed a vote of no confidence.
The current number of votes needed is 16.
The Bill was promoted by Daphne Caine, MHK for Garff, and the current chief minister, Howard Quayle, voted in favour of it.
Now that it has passed all three readings in both branches of Tynwald it will go forward for royal assent and become the law.
