Have your say on tougher punishments for dangerous driversIt an offence to park a motorhome weighing more than 2,540kg on a road with speed restrictions, either overnight or at the weekend.
The police can enforce the law, but the Department of Infrastructure wants to give parking controllers and traffic wardens the power to issue fixed penalty notices.
The Road Traffic Legislation (Amendment) Bill, currently before Legislative Council, will allow that.
But Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer conceded: ’We need to have more places where they can be parked.’
