A lunchtime event took place in the Tynwald chamber to mark 150 years of Manx democracy.
The ’Chamber Concert’ was presented by historian, broadcaster and author Charles Guard and the Caarjyn Cooidjagh choir, Greg Joughin and Tynwald deputy clerk Jonathan King.
It included a potted history of the building, re-enactments of extracts from speeches and debates, personal anecdotes and music.
The event forms part of the 2017 Isle of Architecture project, which is a celebration of the island’s built environment.
Monday’s concert included Annie Kissack re-enacting the maiden speech of the first female MHK, Marion Shimmin.
Some notorious political clashes and some of the more quirky antics of Tynwald members in times past were also featured, including the insults levelled at members of the Keys by Isle of Man Times founder James Brown, who was subsequently imprisoned.
