A study into support for Brexit in the Crown Dependencies has revealed that Manx residents support Britain leaving the European Union.
Jersey and Guernsey both backed remained but a slender majority of Manx respondents to the Island Global Research study backed leave.
The study was conducted online and saw a total of 5,842 residents across the three island respond, 2,105 of which were from the Isle of Man.
Jersey had the biggest support of remaining in the EU with 61%, Guernsey was closely behind with 60% but the island saw 51% of people say they supported Brexit.
Manx respondents also backed a ’No-Deal’ Brexit as their preference for leaving the EU with 33% of leave supporters favouring what Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage MEP has called a ’clean break’ Brexit.
Other results from the survey:
* 45% think said leaving with no deal would have a negative or very negative impact.
* 25% of residents said leaving with no deal will have a positive or very positive impact.
* 34% of residents told IGR that leaving with a deal will have a negative or very negative impact.
* 23% said leaving with a deal will have a positive or very positive impact.
* Nearly half (47%) of residents don’t feel that the government is doing enough to prepare for Brexit, 22% do.
* Manx people (46%) are more concerned about the breakdown of the Irish peace process in the event of no deal compared to Jersey (38%) and Guernsey (41%).
* Increased food prices is the greatest concern for Manx residents with 55% saying they were worried about costs rising in the event of a no deal Brexit.
* 51% were concerned about medical supply shortages in the event of no deal.
* 73% of Manx respondents say they are following the news on Brexit either closely or very closely.
