Visit Isle of Man insists there is no shortage of places where those who need to quarantine can stay.
It has contacted registered accommodation providers to see if they are willing to take in self-isolating guests.
The latter could include key workers, returning residents, those arriving on compassionate grounds and those who are moving here to take up work.
A letter sent out to accommodation providers reads: ’Due to the on-going situation with Covid-19 there is a requirement for accommodation for those carrying out a 14-day quarantine period.
’We are therefore reaching out to you to see if you would like to put your registered tourist accommodation forward as an option.’
Angela Byrne, head of Visit Isle of Man, said this was just an admin exercise while border restrictions remain in place.
She said: ’Visit Isle of Man has contacted all registered accommodation providers to ask if they are open for business and if so, under which circumstances they are accepting guests.
’This is to ensure we continually have an up-to-date list of available accommodation to assist other government departments, if requested and required.
’This administrative task is carried out regularly as border restrictions remain in place and is not a reactive exercise in response to a shortage of accommodation for those requiring to self-isolate.’
