This month’s Positive Action Group meeting will look into the debate surrounding the proposed introduction of the 5G network.

The talk will include two confirmed panellists including Prof Olle Johansson who is described as ’a leading expert in the field of the potential adverse health affects of man-made RF EMF’ [radio frequency electromagnetic fields].

Also appearing is Dr Erica Mallery-Blythe, who is the founder of the Physicians’ Health Initiative for Radiation and Environment.

She has conducted research into people who suffer from electromagnetic hypersensitivity.

According to the leaflet advertising the meeting, the evening is being paid for by the pressure group 5G Aware Isle of Man.

A spokesman from the group told the Examiner: ’We are still contacting members of the Isle of Man government to sit on the panel but we are not able to confirm who else will be attending at this time.’

A proposed roll-out of 5G in the island has proved controversial with activists wanting to see the plans stopped until further research into the effects of the network on humans and animals despite the island’s director of public health Dr Henrietta Ewart saying that 5G is safe.

Other issues have been raised about the number of masts that may be needed.

Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey warned that some parts of the island would need masts no more than 200m away.

Douglas Council leader David Christian said he was ’gobsmacked’ so many masts would be required.

The PAG meeting is on Monday, September 30 at the Manx Legion in Douglas from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Entry is free, drinks are available to buy from the bar or teas and coffees are provided for a donation.
