The Speaker of the House of Keys, Juan Watterson MHK, moved on Tuesday that Tynwald renew and expand the size of a select committee looking into poverty in the island.

The original committee was formed in 2018, consisting of three members - Mr Watterson, Tanya August-Hanson MLC and Jason Moorhouse MHK.

The motion to reform the committee and expand to five was seconded by Chris Thomas MHK, who said he wished Mr Watterson well in seeking the ’holy grail’ of a definition of poverty, which he joked Mr Watterson has been attempting to clearly define for several years.

The motion was passed unanimously. The new committee sees the return of Mr Watterson and Miss August-Hanson, with the additions of Rob Callister MHK, Joney Faragher MHK and Sarah Maltby MHK.
