Robert Cowell has declared his intention to stand as an independent MHK candidate for Ramsey.

The 34-year-old owner of the Bourne Plaice fish and chip shop says that his priorities would be climate change, affordable housing, and promoting recovery for small businesses in the wake of the pandemic.

Mr Cowell explained how he would like to see Ramsey become the ’heart of the north’.

The other candidates standing in Ramsey are Dr Alex Allinson and Lawrie Hooper who are defending their seats, Jonathan Kinrade, Luke Parker, Leonard Singer, and Erica Spencer.

Tomorrow at 1pm (August 25) is the final deadline for candidates to submit their nomination papers and declaration of relevant interest forms to their constituency’s returning officers.
