An MHK is to hold talks with the Treasury over delays in the processing of court-ordered maintenance payments to parents.
Where payments are made via the chief registrar, the Treasury passes on the payment to the recipient through the next of its twice-weekly cheque payments, or its weekly BACs run.
But David Ashford (Douglas North) told the House of Keys some had to wait more than a week, after the payment was made, for the BACs system to process it.
Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan said he would be happy to discuss ways to speed up the process.
’We are a listening Treasury,’ he said.
