Only three people have been nominated to fill the vacant seat in Legislative Council.
The vacancy arose when Tony Wild resigned 14 months after being convicted of drink driving.
Two lawyers and a former policeman have been nominated.
Candidates must be nominated by MHKs. For the first time the vote to decide who becomes an MLC will be held in public in the Keys rather than in secret.
The nominees are:
Jane Poole-Wilson, nominated by Daphne Caine, Bill Shimmins and supported by Howard Quayle and Martyn Perkins.
She is a Manx-born qualified solicitor, of Glen Vine, has worked as an employment lawyer and HR training specialist with mainly financial services companies in the UK, Europe and Asia.
Paul Beckett, nominated by Kate Beecroft and Lawrie Hooper, both Liberal Vannin Party members. He is supported by Julie Edge (LibVan) and Jason Moorhouse.
Mr Beckett previously stood unsuccessfully as a candidate for LegCo in 2015.
Qualifying as an English solicitor in 1981 and as an Isle of Man advocate in 1990, he has more than 35 years’ experience as a lawyer within the international private banking and fiduciary services industries and in private practice.
Alan Wright, nominated by Geoffrey Boot and Ray Harmer. Supported by Tim Baker and Graham Cregeen.
He is a former police officer who has worked as a registration officer in the Land Registry since 2011.
An election sitting of the House of Keys will take place at 2.30pm on Thursday, May 18.
Legislative Council is a branch of Tynwald.
Its members are not directly elected by the people. They are elected by MHKs.
They get a say on all laws passed in the Isle of Man and also sit in Tynwald, which primarily deals with finance and policy.
