Tynwald has unanimously approved an increase to the minimum wage.
Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly described the increase from £7 an hour to £7.50 in a new band for those aged 25 and above as a ’positive step forward’.
There will be a 30p increase for 16- to 17-year-olds and a 20p rise for those aged 18-20 and 21-24.
But backbencher Chris Robertshaw (Douglas East) accused the government of ’rushing its fences’ and providing too little time for businesses to adapt.
