Popular tenor Alfie Boe will be returning to the Villa on July 8.
Alfie is one of the best-loved vocalists of his generation and a hugely successful, multi-platinum selling artist.
He has triumphed on theatre stages and in concert halls around the world and has two recent UK number one albums under his belt with his releases Together’ and ’Together Again’, made with Michael Ball.
Although he is best known for performing in some of the world’s great classical venues, Alfie also has the rare ability to bring together all sorts of music lovers.
Not many artists can lay claim to having appeared in Kismet, La Boheme and a spectacular orchestral version of the classic rock album Quadrophenia.
In 2010 he stole the show as Jean Valjean in the 25th anniversary concert performance of Les Miserables at the O2 Arena. He subsequently played the role in the West End and on Broadway.
His new album ’As Time Goes By’ finds him venturing down another avenue as he explores the songs that were the pop music of the 1930’s and 1940’s. Revisiting classic songs such as ’Sing, Sing, Sing’, ’Stompin’ At The Savoy’ and the Glenn Miller signature tune ’Moonlight Serenade, he brings to life an era when British audiences discovered a brand new kind of American music, full of energy, optimism and romance.
This will be a seated concert with tickets priced from £46, www.villagaiety.com.
