A new exhibition for TT will feature memorabilia from the archive from popular TT rider and seven-times winner Mick Grant.

In fact, much of the exhibition was not only hand-picked by Mr Grant himself, but also loaded in his van and personally driven to the island.

Social history curator at the Manx Museum, where the exhibition will be staged, Matthew Richardson said: ’This is a selection of items that Mick has lent to us and this is the first one-man show we have done. We are particularly focusing on his TT career.

Called Mick Grant - the TT years, the display traces his island career starting with his first appearance on the mountain course in the Manx Grand Prix of 1969, and carries on through to his current involvement with the Norton racing team.

As well as leathers, trophies and branded clothing, some of Mr Grant’s own home cine films will feature as well as two of his bikes - the 1978 Kawasaki and the 1982 lap-record setting Suzuki, along with the matching sets of leathers.

’He had a rummage in the attic and found a box of replicas,’ Mr Richardson said.

The exhibition runs throughout TT fortnight.
