Pupils at Andreas School have raised and donated over £1,000 to the Manx Wildlife Trust.

The donation of £1083.25 was raised through a variety of activities organised by the children and their teachers.

These included a Christmas concert, a new year’s dip and many other projects for their house charity days throughout the school year.

Andreas School headteacher, Trish Dudley, said: ’The children have all worked extremely hard and shown incredible motivation.

’Their passion in working for nature is immense and throughout the year this has never waned.’

As a token of the Manx Wildlife Trust’s gratitude, Jeanette Weatherall, consultancy coordinator at the trust, presented the school with a ’thank you’ plaque.

This was given to the house captains of the school.

Jeanette thanked the children for their ’dedication and generosity of spirit’ in working to make the donation.

She added: ’[They] are all absolutely wonderful and [their] hard work and kindness is very much appreciated by Manx Wildlife Trust, in particular as this is the second year in a row [they] have chosen us as [their] favourite charity.

’We are extremely grateful and the money will be used in our conservation work.’

Manx Wildlife Trust released a statement thanking the students and staff of Andreas School.

They also thanked the residents of Andreas for their help in raising the money.

It said: ’We would like to say a massive thank you to the generous people of Andreas for their unstinting support of the children of their community in their impressive efforts.’

Manx Wildlife Trust is the island’s leading nature conservation charity and their work involves inspiring Manx residents to act for wildlife.
