Reservists and veterans of all services banded with uniformed organisations, emergency services and schools on a march to pay tribute to the sacrifices of thoses who have served in conflict.

Members of the public gathered along the route that stretched along Douglas seafront to show their support as part of the annual Armed Forces Day.

Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney, Chief Minister Howard Quayle and Deputy Mayor of Douglas, councillor Debbie Pitts, gave a salute at the Villa Marina colonnade during the event, which celebrates the role local servicemen and women have played in conflict and peacekeeping across the world.

This year it marked the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy and post Second World War Two conflicts in which many who attended participated in.

Music was provided by the Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band who led the procession.

And a religious service plus other commemorations took place in the Villa Marina’s Royal Hall following the march.

The Archdeacon of Man Andrew Brown led the service in the Royal Hall.

Ballakermeen High School students led a presentation to honour the work and sacrifice of those in the Armed Services before dancing and entertainment was given by island groups, including the D-Day Darlings.

There were bouncy castles, food stalls and activities for families to enjoy in the Villa Marina Gardens.
