The Hooded Ram Brewery Co had to extend its lease of the Bottleneck car park during this year’s TT by five days.

The extension was revealed in this month’s Douglas Borough Council meeting.

In council’s agenda, it is revealed that a licence agreement had been in place for the Hooded Ram Brewing Co to occupy the car park from 5pm on Wednesday, May 23, until 12pm on Saturday, June 10.

However, it also shows that it became apparent ’that the main covered area at the venue could not be provided under Hooded Ram’s bespoke canopy, and, in order to accommodate the workload associated with a revised site build involving a marquee, an amendment to the licence agreement had been requested’.

The extension was granted to run from the morning of Saturday, May 19, until the evening of Monday, June 11.

The agreement for the extension was signed by the chair of the environmental services committee Ritchie McNicholl and the leader of Douglas Council David Christian.

As such, the council’s agenda states that the company was subject to an increased fee so as to cover the loss of car parking charges for the additional five days.

The council also raised no objection to the company’s application for temporary planning permission for the TT festival for the next five years.

The Hooded Ram Brewing Company was this year awarded the contract for the car park for a period of five years, due to expire in 2022.

The Examiner contacted the Hooded Ram Brewery Co for comment on the delay. However at the time of going to press, it had not done so.
