Rushen parish’s rates has risen by just over 2% from 98p to £1 in the pound.

In addition, the household refuse charge goes up from £67 to £69.

The authority said the increase was primarily as a result of increased waste charges (5.73% increase) and the accountancy fee for preparing the accounts.

The rate includes 10p for development of the recreational area on land at Ballakilley near Ballafesson.

It also covers functions taken on from central government regarding highways and footpaths maintenance, as well as new initiatives to maintain the countryside.
