Workshops to create a silk painted banners depicting local scenes are being held at the Hub, at Thie Rosien, Port Erin.
They follow on from several very popular silk painting courses at the Hub, led by community arts tutor Debra Tracey.
Debra, the workshop facilitator, said: ’This delightful project is aimed at encouraging people of all ages and abilities to try something different.
’Our friendly regulars will welcome and support you as you develop new skills and gain creative confidence in a relaxed environment.’
Janet Bridle, the Hub co-ordinator, added: ’These workshops are a great way to bring the whole community together.
’You don’t need to be creative to attend. The idea is that you come along and have a go at something new. You never know, you might find a hidden talent!’
Debra and a group of people who have attended previous workshops will be there to encourage and support others with no experience of silk painting.
Initially the sessions will be working on two large silk banners and several smaller pieces. Designs will be varied and simple for people to work on together.
There will be a suggested minimum donation of £3 per session to help cover costs.
The workshops are run through the support of the Isle of Man Arts Council.
The first workshop is on Wednesday, January 29, and are weekly on Wednesdays until February 19 from 1pm to 4 at the Hub.
Further dates will then be published of future sessions. For more information ring Janet on 838180 or email [email protected].
