An emergency road closure has been put in place on Four Roads in Port St Mary after a sinkhole formed in the carriageway near the rrailway station.

The sinkhole appeared by the railway level crossing.

A team from the Department of Infrastructure has been brought in to excavate the affected section of road to assess and repair the damage.

The emergency road closure is in place until 4pm on Thursday (February 26).

But the exact length of time that the road will be closed will be determined once the full extent of the issue has been established.

All through traffic between Port Erin and Port St Mary is being diverted via Castletown Road/Gansey/Beach Road.

Access to the Station Hotel will be from Port St Mary only and all houses to the north of the Station Hotel will be accessible from Port Erin only.
