Former Ballakermeen High School student Joe Burrows has qualified as an advocate at island law firm M&P Legal.

Mr Burrows has spent two years training with M&P Legal and was recently admitted as an advocate in a ceremony before His Honour Deemster Corlett, the First Deemster.

Mr Burrows will now work in the law firm’s litigation department where he conducts a wide range of legal work including personal injury, debt recovery, employment law and other dispute work. Joe also has an interest in environmental law.

After leaving Ballakermeen High School, Mr Burrows graduated from the University of Loughborough with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and English.

He then continued with his studies at the University of West of England completing a legal practice course in 2019.

Mr Burrows is an accomplished sportsman and has represented the island at cricket and badminton and is also a keen footballer playing for Laxey.

Throughout his training period at M&P Legal, his principal has been the firm’s director Damian Molyneux.

Damian said: ’Passing the Manx bar exams at the first time of asking is no mean feat but is typical of Joe’s dedicated approach to his studies and his training.

’Over the past two years he has become an integral part of the M&P Legal team and I am sure will continue to flourish and be a great asset to his clients and to the company.’

Mr Burrows added: ’I’d love to say my studying is over, but every day is a learning day.

’I look forward to representing clients and M&P Legal moving forward.’
