The Post Office is releasing six stamps to celebrate the island’s transport museums.
It described the collection, which focuses on road vehicles, as ’a tribute to the selflessly-dedicated enthusiasts who restore and preserve an extraordinary assortment of machines for the Manx public and visitors to enjoy’.
It will be issued on Wednesday, July 28 to coincide with Heritage Transport Week.
The first-class stamp features the iconic Peel P50 miniature car.
Local designer Mark Redhead of Kllbr8 created the stamps with images provided by each of the six museums on island: The Manx Transport Heritage Museum in Peel, The Jurby Transport Museum, The Murray’s Motorcycle Museum in Santon, The A.R.E. Collection in Kirk Michael, The Milntown Collection in Ramsey and the Isle of Man Motor Museum Jurby.
Maxine Cannon, general manager of Isle of Man Stamps & Coins, said: ’All of these fabulous Museums present an Aladdin’s cave of historic transport memorabilia to enthusiasts on island and all over the world.
’They are a credit to our island and we would like to thank each and every one of them for their support and participation in this great stamp issue.’
All six stamps will be available as set, sheet set, presentation pack and first Day Cover.
