An inquest into the death of an Onchan woman has heard a stressful evening contributed to her death.

Coroner Jayne Hughes opened and adjourned Lesley Cubbon’s inquest on Wednesday morning.

Mrs Cubbon, aged 73, of Ridgeway Road, Onchan, died at her home on Tuesday, August 11.

Mrs Hughes said police are continuing their investigations into the events surrounding the evening when Mrs Cubbon died.

It has previously been reported that on the evening of August 11, police were called to an incident involving a number of youths who were causing annoyance to residents in the Onchan Park area.

Police are continuing to make inquiries as to whether the two matters are linked. A police spokesman said if such a link is established, detectives will ascertain whether any criminal offence has been committed in relation to the woman’s death.

Officers are continuing to work closely with the family and police patrols in that area has been increased.

During the inquest, Mrs Hughes read a statement from pathologist Dr Long who performed Mrs Cubbon’s post-mortem examination.

Dr Long said she had died of natural causes, namely myocardial ischemia.

He said that coronary artery disease and ’stresses of that evening’ had contributed to Mrs Cubbon’s death.
