Island residents are being asked to help shape the future of the Isle of Man’s arts industry.

The Arts Council and Culture Vannin are working together to survey opinions on how the island can be a more creative, and culturally engaging place.

It’s part of a long-term strategy to continue boosting the sector.

They are asking for everyone involved with the arts or Manx culture to fill out the survey about their priorities.

It will shape the next five-year action plan to support delivery of the National Development Strategy, ’Arts, culture and creativity for everyone’.

On the survey website, it says: ’Your voice matters. By completing this survey we can gauge your views and experiences, which can be used to make important decisions in the arts and cultural sectors.’

Director of Culture Vannin, Dr Breesha Maddrell, said: ’We consulted stakeholders when we drafted "Arts, Culture and Creativity for Everyone" back in 2017, and the responses helped shape the strategy as a whole.

’Arts and culture are about the people who practice and enjoy them, and we want to represent a diversity of voices as we plan for the next five years.’

AMBITIONS

Participants are being asked for one key idea for each of the following five ambitions:

l Ambition One: Inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy our culture and the arts.

l Ambition Two: Invest in the island’s creative and cultural communities so that they are successful and sustainable

l Ambition Three: Promote our unique Manx culture and distinctiveness as central to the Island’s image, nationally and Internationally

l Ambition Four: Champion the arts and culture as fundamental to our wellbeing and sense of place

l Ambition Five: Inspire and enable people to explore new horizons through innovation, media and technology
