The exploits of a madcap bunch of local adventurers will finally make it to the big screen this weekend.

The premier of the film ’Team Mad Manx and the Rickshaw Run’ will be shown at the Peel Centenary Centre this Saturday, May 29, beginning at 7.45pm.

The film features the escapades of Adam and Fern Callister and film maker Sam Waters as they took on the Rickshaw Run, a comical race that sees teams try to drive a gloriously under-powered, rickety three-wheeled vehicle 3,500 miles across India during 2015.

The rickshaws are wonderfully described as ’one donkey-powered, glorified lawnmowers’ by the organisers, with the only instructions given to the teams being to ’get from Kerala to Jaisalmer, in Rajasthan, in any way they can’.

Tickets are £5, available from etickets.im/cc

The film screening has been delayed several times due to the lockdown, and Fern asked that if people already have a ticket purchased for a previous date and can’t make it down, to contact the Peel Centenary Centre for a refund and to resell the ticket.

The film will also be available to view on YouTube at the same time as the screening.
