Ramsey Commissioners’ lead member for housing, Luke Parker, has thanked staff for their hard work, determination and compassion to ensure the wellbeing of tenants during the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He told the monthly board meeting: ’Over the course of the past few months, the housing department has gone above and beyond to help those who required assistance, with over 150 calls being made to those who were thought to be most vulnerable.’
He said the housing team worked alongside other local services, such as Ramsey Rugby Club and the Foodbank, to help support those in need.
As an example, he cited the case of a tenant who was receiving cancer treatment and was self-isolating with no means of collecting benefits and therefore unable to pay for food deliveries.
With the help of the housing department, the tenant was able to call upon these local services and receive support.
Mr Parker added: ’During such difficult times, it was great to see the community pull together and see the staff from Ramsey Commissioners deliver such support to those in need.’
