World music, international cuisine, global development and local environmental issues all featured in the St John’s Arboretum on Monday.

The Global Village, organised by the One World Centre, took place during the Tynwald proceedings and featured a range of stalls, activities and entertainment under trees in the Arboretum.

Manx groups including Clash Vooar, harpist Arabella Ayen and the Mollag Band performed under the trees, alongside a performance of the didgeridoo and the hand-pan drum by percussionist Annie Pearce.

There were also performances of Thai, Chinese and Bulgarian folk dancing and a display of karate.

Environmental groups such as the One World Centre and Zero Waste Mann were also on hand with stalls and information, and organisations including representatives from the United Nations and Christian Aid demonstrated their work in developing countries.

Children were kept entertained by the team from Isle of Play and there was examples of African, Thai and Indian foods.
