Manx Breast Cancer Support has expressed its thanks to everyone who helped them to ’turn the island pink’ during their Isle of Woman campaign.

Chairman, Julie Stokes, said: ’We have had a fantastic Isle of Woman campaign this year - more than 200 local companies turned pink with us and due to an amazing amount of support from the Manx public our total to date is £65,000.’

Along with policemen wearing pink helmets and the charity’s mascot, Booby Bear visiting local schools, Isle of Woman events included a Pink Gin & Fizz afternoon at Seven Kingdom, a Pink Cabaret Night at the Manx Legion and Pink Fitness Classes.

The charity has already raised £2.3 million to build and equip the Manx Breast Unit at Noble’s Hospital and has opened ’Quiet Rooms’ at Ronaldsway and Liverpool John Lennon airports for the use of anyone travelling on the Patient Transfer Service.

Julie explained where the money from Isle of Woman will go: ’We promise to spend all of our money on the island, helping to improve our breast cancer and other patient services.’
