Many of the island’s best-known performance poets will welcome a renowned guest UK writer to take part in a wildly-untamed and unpredictable poetry and music event this weekend.
The writers behind ’Feral’, a group of like-minded poets and artists, will host a free online night of performance on Sunday, May 10, starting at 3pm.
Led by poets Georgia Lisette and Bill Strutt, the Feral night will see the English performance poet Mark Grist take part, along with local poets Jackie Morrey-Grace, Janet Lees, Stacey Astill, Zara Ruth, and Martin Lynch.
They will be joined by a host of local musicians, including Keiran Hannifin, Theresa McNulty, Mark E. Moon and Seb Fosdal.
The Feral poetry nights were one-off occasions which took place in pubs or other unusual public locations, and were wild and informal nights of creative writing and expressive performance.
Georgia admits that they are unsure about what form the event will take, or what a running order will look like, but she said that’s what always made the Feral nights special.
’We have decided, during this strange time we are living in, it is time for a Feral night,’ said Georgia.
’Obviously, as we can’t gather anywhere, we are going to hold a two-hour performance of poetry and music online.
’I’m not sure how it will go and what order things will happen in but we, as Feral, always tend to fly by the seat of our pants anyway, so there will be no difference there.
’It should be a good couple of hours of poetry music and all sorts of things in between.
’There will be improv, and plenty of riffing with each other, and, possibly, there are any others who will want to join in too.’
The performance will take place over a mass Zoom meeting.
The link will be made available on the ’FERAL’ Facebook page. The link can also be obtained by emailing [email protected]
