The pink powder that closed a reservoir for nine days has been identified.
Manx Utilities closed the Clypse reservoir in Onchan after it was discovered on a bridge on June 19.
It turned out to be non-toxic chalk dust. The water supply was then put back on the system on Friday.
A MUA spokesman said: ’It’s our drinking water and it needs to be treated with respect. The chalk was probably a bit of fun, but there are regulations around reservoirs such as dogs are not allowed to swim in them.
’It’s an unfortunate instance because we had to take the reservoir off the system and all the duties after. It was an unnecessary piece of work.
’Please treat our precious drinking water supply with respect.’
The mystery of the pink powder originally had members of the public guessing that it could be from a gender reveal party or perhaps linked with the pink seagull that has been spotted in the north of the island.
