Residents in Marown have more than Thursday’s General Election to think about, with voters also set to head to the polls again next month.
Mr Lovelady resigned from the Commissioners because of increasing personal commitments.
The by-election will take place on Thursday, October 8, with further details about the polling station and a formal Notice of Poll to be issued by the local authority in due course.
Before then, residents will have the opportunity to hear from and question both candidates at a requisition meeting.
It will take place at 7am on Monday, October 5, at Crosby Methodist Church Hall on Old Church Road.
In the absence of the Captain of Marown, Charles Fargher, the meeting will be chaired by Allen Corlett, Captain of the neighbouring parish of German.
The October vote is separate from Thursday’s General Election, which will see voters across the island choose Members of the House of Keys to represent their constituencies in Tynwald.
MHKs deal with island-wide matters including health, education, transport and taxation, while local authority members represent their communities and deal with matters such as local services, parks and waste.

Marown is the island’s only landlocked parish and is one of 21 local authorities, which comprise four town commissioners or councils and 17 parish or village authorities.
So, for Marown residents, the ballot box will be making a second appearance just a fortnight after the General Election campaign finally comes to an end.
And if Thursday’s election has left anyone desperate for more hustings, October’s vote provides another opportunity.
