The Met Office has issued two weather warnings.

There is a yellow alert for frost and ice throughout the island tonight.

There is an amber warning for coastal overtopping tomorrow from midday to 4pm.

The areas likely to be affected are:

Central and northern parts of Douglas promenade, Castletown promenade as well as Shore Road in Rushen (often called Gansey), Laxey promenade and, to a lesser extent Fenella Beach in Peel and parts of Ramsey promenade.

The forecast:

Isolated wintry showers this evening, with light winds. Becoming colder late evening and tonight under clearer spells, with a widespread frost developing leading to icy stretches. Minimum temperatures zero to minus 2 Celsius, then recovering by a few degrees before dawn.

Cold start tomorrow with freshening south-southwest winds. Rain arriving from about mid-morning, heavy at times, with a strong to gale force southerly. Rain clearing to showers by mid-afternoon. Top temperature 9°C.

Rather cold for Friday with sunshine and a few wintry showers accompanied by a fresh to strong west-northwest wind. Highest temperature 6°C.

Yellow ‘Be Aware’ - Risk of bad weather affecting activities. Some travel delays, risk of minor damage, localised or temporary disruption.

Amber: ’Be Prepared’ - Risk of severe weather impacting on work, schools & travel. Some disruption & damage in places. Risk of injury.

Red: ‘Take Action’ - Extreme conditions likely. Widespread damage, travel disruption, interruption to power and communication. Risk to life.
