The weather forecast from the Met Office:
Rain at first this morning will soon clear, leaving the rest of the day mostly dry with bright or sunny intervals developing. The moderate southeast wind will quickly turn to the west or southwest and increase to gale force, temperatures up to 8 Celsius.
The wind will ease for a time this evening but then quickly increase from the southeast tonight as rain moves in. The rain will clear to showers during the early hours of Sunday morning, as the wind quickly turns to the southwest and increases to gale or severe gale force with gusts of 60-65 perhaps 70mph. Minimum temperature near to 4°C.
A bright day tomorrow with just a few showers - but very windy with gale or severe gale force south-westerly winds which will slowly ease during the morning although still remaining strong. Maximum temperature of 8 or 9°C.
Mostly dry on New Years Day with just a small chance of a shower at first. Strong west to southwest wind through the day, will ease overnight giving the risk of a frost in places.
