The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain.
The forecast:
Today will be wet with rain continuing for much of the day, and some heavier bursts possible at times. Driving conditions will be quite difficult with standing water on the island roads and a risk of localised flooding. Temperatures reaching up to 7 or 8°C by this evening.
The rain will continue this evening, but will start to become lighter and patchier tonight. The winds will settle to a light to moderate north to north-westerly later in the night, with minimum temperature near to 4°C.

Outlook
The rain will turn lighter and patchier for a time Wednesday morning, before becoming more persistent and heavy again into the afternoon, falling increasingly as sleet or snow over the hills and rain or sleet at lower levels. Top temperature around 6°C. The light to moderate north to northwest wind will strengthen overnight into Thursday as the rain, sleet and snow gradually clears eastwards.
Thursday will be a cold and blustery day with scattered wintry showers, moving through fairly quickly on the strong west to north-westerly wind. Highest temperature only around 6°C and feeling much colder in the wind.
