Mountain biking fundraiser Paint the Plantation Pink is to be held for the fourth successive year next month.

The event brings together women of all ages together to enjoy riding their bikes in the Archallagan plantation near Foxdale on April 27.

The sponsored cyclists can turn up anytime between 10am and 4pm to complete as many laps of the 2.86- mile course as they want.

Event organiser Mel Dowling said: ’It is meant to be a flexible event to accommodate women’s busy lives and for them to fit in when they can cycle, rather being a set start time.

’It is also an event for women of all fitness levels and ability, and we encourage anyone who owns a mountain bike to get involved.’

All entrants pay a fee to take part and also must commit to raising a £30 minimum sponsorship.

The money will be split between Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Manx Breast Cancer Support Group.

Gecko Corporate Services, which is celebrating its 10th year anniversary is sponsoring the event,

Director and owner Adrian Hall said: ’What better way to celebrate our firms anniversary than to be involved with a fantastic event like this?

’It seems to be going from strength to strength each year and which raises much-needed funds for four charities that do so much to help people during difficult times.’

This year the organisers have introduced a few new prize categories including the Nikki Bregazzi Memorial Mother and Daughter Trophy.

Serena Wood event co-ordinator said: ’Nikki was a great supporter of our event and entered each year.

’Last year she won the Mother and Daughter Trophy with her two daughters whom she rode with and it just seemed fitting that we should dedicate this trophy to her.’

There will also be an E bike category and the last lap will be dedicated to the men in a special ’one for the boys’ trophy where men can do just one lap at the end of the event and can enter by making a donation on the day where funds will go to Mannin Cancers Support Group, raising funds for Prostate Cancer on the Isle of Man.
