It has been in your pockets, wallets and purses for 40 years.
The Manx £20 features a scene from the opening of the Laxey Wheel in 1854.
But, if you look closely, one figure, apparently looking directly at the artist rather than the Lady Isabella, is different.
Dressed in what appears to be jeans and a leather jacket, he seems entirely out of place in a scene from the mid 19th century.

’I know a lot of people have talked about this for years,’ she said.
’He looks like Elvis Presley, James Dean or maybe the Fonz from Happy Days. It seems as though it’s some kind of joke by the artist.

We contacted the Treasury.
A spokesman admitted that nobody knew why the note, which was first issued in 1979, includes the image.
It was ’lost in the mists of time’.
