A 90-year-old woman has died following a road traffic collision involving a horse and cart.

Emergency services, including the Great North Air Ambulance, were called to the scene of the collision on Killane Road in Ballaugh just before 11am on Thursday, July 30.

Anne Kennedy Woods was badly injured and taken to hospital but she sadly died on Wednesday.

In a statement, police said: ‘An occupant of the cart sustained life-threatening injuries and was later flown off island to a hospital in the UK.

‘The Isle of Man Constabulary can confirm that the occupant, 90-year-old Anne Kennedy Woods, sadly succumbed to her injuries and died in hospital on the morning of Wednesday August 5.

‘Her family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

‘Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision and have not yet spoken to officers, to contact the roads policing unit via police headquarters on 631212, quoting police investigation reference 97/5236/26.

‘We ask that the public refrain from speculation and respect the family’s privacy on the matter.’
